No power mods. No shadow bans. No capture.

What RedditCould HaveBeen

Mirage keeps what worked about Reddit: communities, posts, comments, voting, and discovery. It removes what people grew to hate: power moderators, opaque enforcement, and being locked under one company's decisions.

What is Mirage?

Nobody Can Ban You From the Network

A node can choose what it shows locally, but it cannot erase you from Mirage as a whole. There is no global moderator layer that can wipe your account, quarantine a topic, or silently throttle you. If one node blocks you, switch to another and keep going with the same identity, posts, and followers. Nodes are roads, not rulers.

Moderation is Voluntary

You control what you see by blocking users, blocking topics, and shaping your own feed. If you want curated moderation, follow moderators you trust. If you want an unfiltered view, choose that too. Control sits with you, not with a small group of gatekeepers who can change the rules overnight.

No Crypto Required

You do not connect a wallet, you do not buy anything, you do not learn token jargon. You write a post, your browser does a quick proof of work in the background, the post appears, done. The blockchain is invisible on purpose. It exists to prevent capture and lock-in, not to turn users into crypto participants.

How It Works

1

Use It Without Crypto

Most people don't want to set up a wallet or buy tokens to try a new platform. On Mirage, you don't need to. Your browser performs a tiny proof of work that takes a few seconds, then your action is accepted. You can participate immediately. Tokens are optional for priority and extra features like custom usernames.

2

Moderation on Your Terms

Moderators offer filters and curation that you can choose to follow, completely voluntary and transparent. A node can block content locally, but it cannot remove it from every node. If you dislike a node's policy, you can browse another node with different settings. Move freely.

3

What Persists and What Fades

On-chain and persistent: usernames, account balances, validator data, and governance parameters. Off-chain and ephemeral: the actual text of posts and comments are stored by nodes. If no node keeps a post, it disappears. That's the idea behind the name Mirage, content appears as long as nodes keep it.

Exit is Always Free

Every existing Reddit alternative still assumes someone owns the place you live. Power accumulates quietly, and exit is costly. Mirage assumes the opposite. Identity is portable. Moderation is voluntary. If something goes bad, you leave instantly without losing anything.
