Mirage Research LLC ("us", "we", or "our") built the Mirage app (the "Service") as a Free app. This SERVICE is provided by Mirage Research LLC at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service. Our core philosophy is privacy by design, and as such, our approach to information is fundamentally different from traditional applications.

If you choose to use our Service, you agree to the handling of information in relation to this policy. We do not collect any Personal Information. The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at Mirage unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

Mirage is architected to function without collecting any personally identifiable information. For a better experience, while using our Service, we do not require you to provide us with any personally identifiable information, such as your full name, email, or phone number. Your identity is a cryptographic key pair generated and stored exclusively on your device.

The app does not use third-party services that collect information used to identify you for tracking or analytics purposes (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics).

Log & Connection Data

We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, the app itself does not collect Log Data. However, to connect to the decentralized Mirage network, your app must communicate with an independent computer called a "node." In this process, that node may see your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, similar to how any website or online service you visit sees your IP address. We, Mirage Research LLC, do not operate these nodes and do not have access to this data. Users concerned about exposing their IP address can use a VPN.

Cookies

This Service does not use "cookies" for tracking. The app uses your device's local storage to securely store your cryptographic keys and user settings. This information is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Service Providers

We do not employ third-party companies to provide the Service on our behalf or to perform analytics. The Mirage network consists of independent node operators. These operators are not our service providers and are not acting on our behalf. They are independent participants in the network.

Security

We value your trust and have designed the system to be as secure as possible by not collecting your data in the first place. Your security is in your hands. It is your responsibility to keep your phone and access to the app secure. Your cryptographic key is your identity; if you lose it, it cannot be recovered. Remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Links to Other Sites

Content within the Service may contain links to other sites (e.g., links posted by other users). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children's Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. Because we do not collect any personal information, we are unable to delete it if a child provides it. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has used our service, please be aware that any content they may have published is public and permanent on the decentralized network.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

By downloading or using the app, these terms will automatically apply to you – you should make sure therefore that you read them carefully before using the app. You're not allowed to copy, or modify the app, any part of the app, or our trademarks in any way. You're not allowed to attempt to extract the source code of the app, and you also shouldn't try to translate the app into other languages, or make derivative versions. The app itself, and all the trademarks, copyright, database rights and other intellectual property rights related to it, still belong to Mirage Research LLC.

Mirage Research LLC is committed to ensuring that the app is as useful and efficient as possible. For that reason, we reserve the right to make changes to the app at any time and for any reason. The core Service is free, and we will never charge you for the app or its core services without making it very clear to you exactly what you are paying for. Some independent node operators may offer optional paid services for convenience (e.g., media hosting), which are not required to use the protocol.

The Mirage app stores your cryptographic keys locally on your device to provide our Service. It's your responsibility to keep your phone and access to the app secure. We therefore recommend that you do not jailbreak or root your phone, which is the process of removing software restrictions and limitations imposed by the official operating system of your device. It could make your phone vulnerable to malware/viruses/malicious programs, compromise your phone's security features and it could mean that the Mirage app won't work properly or at all.

The app does not use third-party tracking or analytics services.

Liability and Network Access

You should be aware that there are certain things that Mirage Research LLC will not take responsibility for. The app requires an active internet connection to function. The connection can be Wi-Fi, or provided by your mobile network provider, but Mirage Research LLC cannot take responsibility for the app not working at full functionality if you do not have access to Wi-Fi, and you do not have any of your data allowance left.

If you're using the app outside of an area with Wi-Fi, you should remember that your terms of the agreement with your mobile network provider will still apply. As a result, you may be charged by your mobile provider for the cost of data for the duration of the connection while accessing the app, or other third party charges. In using the app, you're accepting responsibility for any such charges. If you are not the bill payer for the device on which you're using the app, please be aware that we assume that you have received permission from the bill payer for using the app.

With respect to Mirage Research LLC's responsibility for your use of the app, when you're using the app, it's important to bear in mind that although we endeavor to ensure that it is updated and correct at all times, we do rely on the decentralized network of third parties (node operators) to provide information to us so that we can make it available to you. Mirage Research LLC accepts no liability for any loss, direct or indirect, you experience as a result of relying wholly on this functionality of the app.

App Updates and Termination

At some point, we may wish to update the app. The app is currently available on Android & iOS – the requirements for both systems may change, and you'll need to download the updates if you want to keep using the app. Mirage Research LLC does not promise that it will always update the app so that it is relevant to you and/or works with the Android & iOS version that you have installed on your device. However, you promise to always accept updates to the application when offered to you. We may also wish to stop providing the app, and may terminate use of it at any time without giving notice of termination to you. Unless we tell you otherwise, upon any termination, (a) the rights and licenses granted to you in these terms will end; (b) you must stop using the app, and (if needed) delete it from your device.

Mirage maintains a zero tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Protecting minors is a core safety priority of the network.

1. Zero Tolerance Policy

Mirage strictly prohibits:

• Any content that depicts or promotes child sexual abuse or exploitation
• Grooming behavior or attempts to establish inappropriate relationships with minors
• Sexualization of minors in any form
• Distribution, solicitation, or linking to child sexual abuse material
• Any activity that violates applicable child protection laws

Violations result in immediate removal of content and may lead to permanent account suspension.

2. Reporting Mechanisms

Users may report content or behavior involving minors through:

All reports are reviewed promptly. Where required, Mirage may escalate credible threats involving minors to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

3. Enforcement

Mirage may:

• Remove content that violates these standards

• Preserve and provide relevant information to law enforcement where legally required

Mirage cooperates with lawful investigations concerning child safety.

4. Age Requirements

Mirage is not intended for individuals under 13 years of age, or the minimum age required by local law. Accounts determined to belong to underage users may be removed.

5. Ongoing Safety Measures

Mirage maintains moderation systems, reporting workflows, and escalation procedures designed to detect and address prohibited content involving minors. Safeguards are reviewed and improved on an ongoing basis.
